The computational research carried out in the CED group spans fundamental computational methods research, applied modelling of systems, materials and devices, and design search and optimisation.
You will have experience and an interest in one or more of the following areas:
-
computational magnetism at the nanoscale (including micromagnetics and spintronics)
-
computational photonics and devices
-
finite element, finite difference, and other advanced algorithms applied to optics, photonics and micromagnetics
-
computational methods and infrastructure tools, technologies and platforms
The CED group encourages multidisciplinary work and applications from researchers with background in all relevant subjects, including engineering, material science, physics, mathematics, and computer science are all welcome.
Working closely with Professor Simon Cox and Hans Fangohr, you will collaborate with experimental and theoretical groups across the University, and other national and international partners. Additionally you will perform innovative research, attract funding, and contribute to high quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate level. Excellent communication skills are required.
